This study focuses on the marketing of home-grown businesses that were set up on Instagram. With the arrival of the smartphone, Instagram as a Social Networking Site has been growing in reputation and the medium of choice for ambitious business owners. However, there hasn’t been much research done concerning the businesses that were set up on Instagram specifically research that focus on marketing strategies. It’s interesting to note that businesses on Instagram are still considerably under the radar although it generates sales comparable to a good e-commerce business. This study sought to explore and examine this occurrence and understand how the business owners planned their trademark positioning. With the use of in-depth, qualitative interviews and three respondents that are business owners themselves, the results showed that Instagram is the greatest and modern platform for ambitious business owners to begin their business before deciding to venture offline. Three different types of businesses were picked with at least 10,000 followers or more at the time this research was done. Surprisingly all three of the business owners were already busy with making plans to expand their business offline. This finding verifies that as a Social Networking Site, Instagram plays a significant role in modeling the way home-based business craft strategies with a lot of impacts, as good marketing is critical from the start to cut through the mess of many businesses that are available on Instagram.
